Well while I'm busy, I might as well add another picture. This is one of my "extreme close-up" sessions, I just set the distance to 2 or 1 cm and take pictures with the flash on. It over-exposes the background but the will give a nice effect to the items in the foreground. This is a small owl statue i got from Greece.

Rush hour in the aquarium

Well it's been a looooong time since I last posted anything here. I guess it's just my curse, I never seem to be able to follow through on a commitment with a blog.
Anyway, I'll give it another shot and will see how much I'll be able to post this time. Starting off this time with a picture of heavy fish traffic in the aquarium. Always in such a rush, darn fish, it's not like they've got anywhere to go.
This isn't my aquarium by the way, just in case you're wondering.

Sky ablaze

I just can't get enough of sunrises, this one was taken in the beginning of the year, when it was still dark when you wake up. In this case it looks like a big explosion in the sky, it even reflects on the water below.

Vine forest

I took this picture yesterday, the red colours on the leaves might make you think that it's autumn, but this is just taken in spring. These are vines stuck to the wall by the way, taken under a rather odd angle. It looks a bit like a forest in the distance though.

Bird Trek

A bird trek, quite a common sight around these parts. I don't remember what kind of birds they are, but I always enjoy seeing them fly in formation. It makes them look so organized and smart.

A rare pet picture

I'm in a good mood today, so here's another picture :) This is Stoffel, one of my two cats. He's pretty much scared of anything and a real trouble to get on film. I normally don't post pictures of my pets, I figure that the only people interested in pet pictures are the ones who actually own the aforementioned pets. But I'm making an exception to this one because of how he's hiding behind that plant while giving me an accusing eye. Apparently he doesn't like having his picture posted either :)

Farm in the evening

Well as promised, here's another evening picture. Together with a rather typical dutch farm in the background, it looks quite rustic, but be glad pictures don't come with the scent option. Around this time of year there is a lot of manure being thrown over the fields, which results in that rather typical farm scent.

Dusk time

Well it's been a while since I last posted, this is partly because I was away on vacation for a week and because I kinda ran out of inspiration on what to post next. Anyway, here's a new one taken during dusk, my favourite time of the day. Everything always seems so peaceful and quiet, and the light makes for some really nice pictures. I might put another evening picture up a little later on, still looking if I might improve it a little (it looks a little blurry, blame my unsteady hand :)

Some pretty purple flowers, don't ask me what kind though. I would love to have something like that in my home, but I'm sure that I would leave them in there far too long until they start to smell... and rot.. and just turn into this weird gooish water soup.

My teeth

Yea, those are my teeth. A plaster cast from '97, It was taken to see if my teeth were properly alligned after the 3 years of braces I had to endure. Orthodonty must be one of the greatest tortures people willingly endure to look prettier. I doubt that people would visit an orthodontist if they knew in advance what kind of pain they would suffer in the years ahead.

Mmmm, spiderwebs

Those of you suffering from arachnophobia shouldn't bother visiting my backyard. The place is crawling with spiders, and their webs, as you can see. There was a sudden frost in the morning, freezing the morning dew on the spiderwebs themselves. I'm amazed the things didn't break under all that weight.

Fireworks

I love the new years eve fireworks. It's all amateurs work, everyone buys their own fireworks. But it sure makes for some nice displays. The noise is a different thing though, it's always as if the entire town has transformed into a miniature warzone.

By the way, in case you haven't noticed it yet. I'm not putting this up in chronological order. I will report dates if they're important. Otherwise you'll just have to ask me.

I wish I could always go on vacation, you just can't get sunsets like these back home. Oh well, I guess that if I always saw sights like these, I wouldn't appreciate them that much anymore.

Tranquility in the sun

I always find that lakes look so tranquil when there's no wind. It makes me feel calm and at ease. Until some damned duck lands in it and starts quacking for bread... grr.. damn ducks.

One of my all time favourites

This is one of my most favourite pictures ever. And also one of the first I took with this digital camera. It just goes to show that getting up early sometimes does pay off.
In case you're wondering where this is, this is the Zegerplas in Alphen a/d Rijn. I doubt it would mean much to most of you, but you can always look it up on a map I think.

Cracks in the ice

Heh, look at those cracks, it's almost as if they look like they've jumped right out of a cartoon or something.
This is one of the heaviest snowfalls ever recorded in dutch history by the way. It doesn't look like much though, since we're usually lucky to just have any snow at all. Still, it makes for some really nice pictures.

Hmm, I've got a terrible track record when it comes to keeping blogs up to date. So this isn't going to be another "talking about whatever comes to mind" kind of blog. Instead I'll just go and add some nice pictures that I manage to take when I've got my camera around.
